The United States Postal Service is an independent branch of the federal government responsible for providing postal service in the United States, as well as offering international delivery to more than 190 countries. This project focused on creating a backend data store with advanced APIs.
Implement a technical strategy to enable the United States Postal Service (USPS) to offer their services for international eCommerce transactions
Estimate shipping and taxation rules for multiple countries around the world
Quantilus built a backend ordering system with robust APIs so any eCommerce Website can add the USPS as a shipper onto any commercial e-commerce website. This allows manufacturers in the United States to expand their markets globally, and provides the USPS with additional revenues by making USPS a preferred shipping vendor for international eCommerce transactions.
Given the enormous amounts of data, our team pocked MongoDB as the backend data store for this project. The services layer was written using NodeJS on AWS Lambda, and the APIs are exposed using AWS API Management system. To calculate the taxes due for different international jurisdictions, we collected and consolidated real-time data from multiple third-party services with more than 10 e-commerce merchants.
