Publishing

McGraw-Hill

Challenge:

Streamline the process of distributing materials to 180,000+ college professors.

Solution:

PRIMUS, a custom publishing portal that lets users custom-build textbooks with material from different sources, was designed, developed, and implemented by Quantilus.

Features:

- Interacts with legacy systems: financial accounting, order processing and fulfillment, sales force automation, master products database

- Includes an e-commerce site where students can order custom published textbooks in print or e-book formats

-Includes a content management system with publishing workflow, a user interface for managing order history and course interests, and extensive product search of thousands of titles

Method:

PRIMUS was developed using Extreme Programming methodology and was implemented using J2EE with Oracle 9i RDBMS.

Wiley

Challenge:

John Wiley and Sons (JWS) needed a content management system to handle the information lifecycle for its online library - the largest delivery platform for digital journals.

Solution:

Quantilus implemented EMC's Documentum as Wiley's repository for work-in-progress content intended for Wiley Online Library.

Features:

- The Journals Quality Assurance System manages over 1600 journal titles with 10,000+ articles every month

- Back-end systems automate publishing workflows, including collaboration between authors, editors, and production staff

Method:

Wiley Online Library's e-reader, annotation, and subscription modules were built by Quantilus.

E-commerce

GT Brands

Challenge:

GT Brands needed a platform to manage their celebrity-endorsed websites and support existing infomercial and retail sales channels.

Solution:

Quantilus implemented its custom-built e-commerce platform, which currently manages more than 40 B2C websites.

Features:

- Platform allows GT to manage their catalog, which includes more than 40 brands and thousands of products

- Provides business intelligence analytics and CRM reports for marketing support

Method:

Platform developed in Borland C++, SQL Server, and ASP.

Hari World Travel

Challenge:

Bring current business onto the Internet and reduce the overhead costs of selling tickets to affiliated retail travel agents.

Solution:

Build a B2B ticketing engine to fit into HWT's public website. Quantilus designed and implemented the Airline Ticket Booking system to automate sales and sales-related information dissemination process.

Features:

The system integrates with multiple back-end consolidation engines, airline-ticketing systems, and HWT's own discount airfare databases.

Method:

The extranet system was built using Microsoft's .Net platform.

CAIRO

Challenge:

BarnesandNoble.com needed a complete customer interface for CAIRO, a portal for customers to buy used and out-of-print books from registered sellers.

Solution:

Quantilus developed the customer front-end, customer service tools, and seller portal.

Features:

- Integration with BarnesandNoble.com's SAP ERP solution to handle order management and accounting

- Integration with pay walls (major credit cards and PayPal)

- Fraud detection rules and policies to flag potentially fraudulent orders

- Module for calculating sales tax based on buyer and seller locations

Method:

The extranet system was built using Microsoft's .Net platform.

iSalvage

Challenge:

iSalvage.com operated on a custom-built B2B platform that did not perform as expected. The site needed repairs and improvements for optimal performance.

Solution:

Quantilus initiated a redesign and functional restoration. Existing code was scrutinized and appropriately fixed to meet investors' deadlines.

Method:

The application was developed in VB/ASP using SQL server for database management.
